Abandoning my child (blog)

I abandoned my child! Well, friends had warned me. They told me about how people start a blog, only to move on to something else, and forget all about it. Guilty as charged! That’s me.  I don’t know how I came across it this afternoon. I forgot all about it. (from another blog site, not important)

Reminds me of the time when I was sitting in my car waiting for my wife at Target.  I was in the parking lot during a bright sunny day. Suddenly, I heard the voice of 2 women talking. They were laughing and having a good time. I wasn’t interested in what they were talking about. I watched as the mother (driver) put her child’s car carrier with the child in it, on top of her car, right next to me. She opened the door for her passenger friend. They both got in the car, and the mother reached for her keys, and then started up the car.Surely she won’t forget her child on top of the car I thought.

To my horror, she did! She put the car in reverse, and looking back, she slowly started to back out of the parking space. My first reaction was to honk my horn. She turned to look at me, and I pointed to the top of her car, and shouted, ‘ Lady, your child is on top of the car!’

She yelled, ‘ My baby, my baby!’ Stopping the car, the panicked woman quickly opened her door, and reached for her child.

‘Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!, she replied. All I could do was to shake my head from side to side as I returned to reading my book.

I couldn’t believe what I saw. A woman was so engrossed in her conversation, that she actually forgot what she was doing.

As they left, I smiled thinking that the child would never know that I probably saved it’s life that day. Talk about cell phones and being distracted. I wonder if Mom had been alone, and on her phone, if  she would have done the same thing? I would hope that the incident so many years ago would have taught her a valuable lesson that day. Pay attention to what you are doing. Always!  I can’t say much as I had abandoned my child (blog) too!

Check out the above link. Apparently this happens quite a bit!

Please tell me that this hasn’t happened to you, or somebody you know.

Women are wonderful!

Childbirth (Photo credit: popularpatty)

Today, I ‘d thought I’d write about something that has been on my mind for a long time. I have always admired the way that a woman can carry a child for nine months, and then  go through all the intense pain of childbirth. I admire any woman who can do that! I know I couldn’t! My wife did it 3 times for the births of both my daughters, and then my son. I believe that’s why my wife took out first daughter’s death so hard. I don’t believe that she is done grieving. I don’t know that feeling of having something growing inside of you. To feel each movement of the child. I remember, our second daughter, would love to play inside of her when it was our time for bed. Eleven o’clock would roll around, and we were both tired,  but out little “scooter” (the name that  I would eventually nickname her) was up and ready to play. Many times my wife would tell her to “quit it,” as she would do somersaults and cartwheels inside her belly for hours! While I’m at it, another thing is that  today, and back then, the doctor can usually tell you the sex of the child before birth. We said no all 3 times. We sort of liked the surprise that God gave us each time. That’s a whole nother story that I may share with you sometime, faithful reader. Well, here is my salute to women everywhere. God bless you !

Water reservoir found in Jerusalem

9 Sep

An interesting article caught my eye tonight. It says researchers have found a source of water found around the Bible time of King Solomon. It dates back some 2,600 years, and was used by Jewish pilgrims. Makes you stop and think. Check out the link for yourself!

Baseball pitcher struck in the head in hospital

I am a huge baseball fan. So it was so sad for me to hear that the Oakland A’s pitcher, Brandon McCarthy, was struck in the head by a line drive ball hit by the Angels (my favorite team) player Erick Aybar. Brandon is in the hospital and had brain surgery. I am praying for his recovery, and that everything goes okay for him. I can just imagine how Erick feels having hit the ball. But, the team of baseball, like all other huge groups, is a team of brothers. When one of them goes down, they all become one. It no longer matters what team your on, and whether you like the Oakland Athletics, or not. This is a great example of love, and caring for another person that is being demonstrated at this time. It warms my heart when I think about that. Please keep Brandon McCarthy in your thoughts this weekend please as a favor to me? Thanks!

Why did Social Security office buy hollow point bullets?

7 Sep

While I’m on the subject of gloom and doom. You must consider this my friends, why did the Social Security recently purchase 174 thousand hollow-point bullets??!! People, there is something wrong with this picture. Yes, our SS offices have armed guards, and they should have them. In today’s society, anybody can walk in there and start shooting up the place.  Some conspiracy theorists  have written that the SS offices are expecting civil unrest from the public, and have to be prepared. Could they possibly be talking about our upcoming Presidential elections? Yet, the SS office has explained that they have 295 officers who go out and investigate SS crimes, and make arrests. Their agents must be armed. But consider this. Did the SS office  switch to hollow-point bullets, and if so, why? This last explanation is kind of weak if you ask me. People, you don’t carry standard ammunition, then suddenly switch to  more lethal kind. What are they expecting? Yes, they have told us that they are running out of money, and may one day have to tell people like me, who rely on that money, that it is no longer there!  What are they hiding, and not telling us? This one bothers me folks, just as much as the increase in earthquakes, and the dead wish. What is truly next? Think about it. Comment are welcomed, and I would love to hear what you have to say about it. Thanks!

You’ll notice the picture of the tree just below my name. This tree is important to me. This is a view from my bedroom. This tree is the first and last thing that I see everyday. I like it the way it is currently. It is full of life, with bright green leaves. Soon, they will shrivel, die, and fall from the tree. This reminds me of life. We are all at our best when the green leaves are full of life. Luckily for the tree, it goes through it’s cycle in life. It will grow new leaves again. The leaves provide oxygen for us. This tree is important in my life. I’m grateful for the chance to watch it.
